After Greg Murphy put car 15 into the wall coming out of Hell Corner during practise it was up to CLownes to put it into the wall during the race blowing his chances of winning the double (Sandown 500 & Bathurst) 2 years in a row. Then....in his final year....The King of the Mountain, Peter Brock retires with electrical trouble with Mark Skaife at the wheel. Back in the pits before race day it all looked well in the HSV garage with all 3 cars right on the pace in practise & during the race....`cept for the Dead Lions.
